Berlin is a flat city, which means that even a small increase in elevation can provide a massive panorama. Whether you want to see the sunset over the Tiergarten, the sprawling cityscape from the TV Tower, or the modern architecture of Potsdamer Platz from above, there are several iconic spots to choose from. Here is how to get the best views in Berlin.
The classic choice. At 203 meters, the observation deck offers a true 360-degree view of the entire city. On a clear day, you can see for up to 40 kilometers.
Located at Potsdamer Platz, this open-air observation deck is reached by Europe's fastest elevator. It offers a fantastic view of the modern architecture of the square and the nearby Tiergarten.
A unique perspective from the heart of the government district. As you walk up the spiral ramp, you get changing views of the city and a look down into the plenary chamber of the German Parliament.
Located in the middle of the Tiergarten, the viewing platform at the top of the column offers a stunning view down the "Strasse des 17. Juni" towards the Brandenburg Gate.
One of the best rooftop bars in the city. It offers a unique view over the Berlin Zoo (you can actually see the monkeys!) and the skyline of West Berlin.
While not from a height, a river cruise on the Spree offers a "scenic view" of many landmarks from the water. It's a relaxed way to see the Museum Island, the Reichstag, and the East Side Gallery.
To ensure you don't miss out on these spectacular views, we recommend booking your tickets in advance, especially for the TV Tower and the Reichstag. A guided tour can also combine several of these viewpoints with fascinating historical context.
