October often marks the transition from the mild late summer to the harsher weather conditions of autumn. One of the most significant phenomena of this time is the first autumn storms that sweep across Germany. But what do the long-term models predict for October 2025, and how can you best prepare?
Autumn storms are caused by the increasing temperature differences between the cooling Arctic and the still-warm oceans. This contrast drives strong low-pressure systems from the Atlantic towards Europe. October is often the month when these systems gain momentum.
Current long-term models suggest an average to slightly changeable October 2025. This means we can expect the first significant storm systems from the second half of the month, especially on the coasts and in mountainous regions. Precise forecasts will only be possible a few days in advance.
