Weather warnings are a critical service for public safety. In Germany, the German Weather Service (DWD) is the official body that issues these warnings. Our app integrates these warnings to inform you directly and clearly about potential dangers.
Weather warnings are typically issued in a color-coded system that indicates the severity of the hazard:
Thunderstorm Warning (often Orange or Red):
Immediately seek shelter in a sturdy building or a closed vehicle. Avoid open fields, hilltops, isolated trees, and bodies of water. Stay away from metal fences or lines. Wait 30 minutes after the last thunder before going outside again.
Storm/Wind Warning (often Orange or Red):
Secure loose objects outdoors (garden furniture, trash cans, flower pots). Close all windows and doors. Avoid forests and parks, as branches can break or trees can fall. Be especially cautious in traffic due to strong crosswinds.
Heavy Rain Warning (often Yellow to Red):
Be aware of the risk of local flooding, especially in low-lying areas, underpasses, or near small streams. Never drive into flooded streets. Basements may flood.
If there is an active weather warning for your location, we display it prominently on the "Today" view. The color and text immediately give you an overview of the type and severity of the danger. Always take these warnings seriously. They are designed to protect you and your property.
